SUSTAINABLE TOURISM, TRADE & INVESTMENT CONFERENCE. TANGIER - 16 OCTOBER 2008

The Middle East Association is organising a one-day conference in Tangier on 16 October to promote UK/Moroccan co-operation in the development of sustainable tourism, and to highlight major trade and investment opportunities in Morocco.

The conference is being held under the patronage of the Moroccan Ministry of Trade & Industry, and in partnership with the Moroccan British Business Council. A provisional programme is attached. Main agenda items will be:

  • Major new projects in Northern Morocco, including the new US$5.5 billion Tangier Med Port and Free Zone, and the development of the region as a major strategic hub close to Europe.
  • Sustainable tourism and real estate development, including the Plan Azur, the rapid increase in Gulf investment, and opportunities for co-operation in professional training, green building, renewable energy, water management and cultural preservation.
  • Project finance and public/private partnerships, including opportunities for UK investors and professional advisors.

Participants will include senior Moroccan Ministers and private sector representatives. It will be an excellent networking opportunity. A programme of site visits will be offered on 17 October to key projects in Northern Morocco including Tangier Med Port and new real estate developments.

The conference will take place at Tangier’s historic El Minzah Hotel which is offering a special discounted rate for conference delegates.
